On the 6th September 1944 in the afternoon I received an order to guide my section again to the front line with provisions for the Fourth Indian Division. Unfortunately I could not go because it had rained during the night and our blankets became very wet. As we slept on the ground I got a paroxysm in my stomach and I could not walk to guide the mission to the Indian soldiers and so they replaced me with another officer.

On 5th September 1944 I received an order in the afternoon to lead my section to transport provision to the front to the Fourth Indian Division to the Bearded Sink Soldiers. We loaded the provisions on the animals and conveyed them to the mountains. At the half way distance we arrived in the open fields and were easy targets for the Germans, so we used the zig zagged method when they began to cannonade us. We were three sections and my section arrived to the height area where the Indian Soldiers were based. The soldiers unloaded the mules and returned fast to their company. I started to return alone in the heavy rain. Opposite there was a height where under heavy rain; English cannons cannonaded the German line. An English Sergeant shouted to me to go near the cannon and he guided me to the kitchen underground and offered me a hot tea. I returned to my Company in the rain, which was half mile away.

On 4th September 1944 a message arrived from the Company to depart. We loaded the lorry with the archive movable office, the small safe, the arming and departed in the afternoon and joined our Company.

On the 3rd September 1944 we advanced and in the afternoon we arrived at Orpino area where there was a small river and we camped for the night. In the morning at 10 o’clock we had the second strong artillery fire from the mountain of German Gothic Line. After the Duty Officer asked me to go to register how many wounded solders and mules there were. We had 9 soldiers and 6 mules.
The 9 soldiers were moved to the Ninth Indian Mobile Casualty Clearing Station. In the afternoon a message arrived to the Company to prepare to depart. I had an order to stay behind with Corporal Nikos to be responsible for the archive movable office, one safe with money and the arming 6 soldiers and a lorry. At midnight we woke from the noise of an aeroplane bombarding the area with arson bombshell that caused fires. This was the first time we had seen this. Fortunately nothing happened to us because the bulk of the soldiers and animals had departed.

On the 2nd September 1944 the Company moved early in the morning and at noon we stopped for rest and watered the animals by a riverside. Immediately the Germans spotted us and commenced artillery fire against our Company and the animals panicked and tried to break free. I and Sergeant Ali Faik [Turk] went to see our section animals. When we walked into the open fields one shell exploded and one piece fell to my right side just one meter in front of us. I kept it for a souvenir but lost it at the front line with my army bag in September 1944.

On the 1st September 1944 we were at the Central Sector of Northern Italy. My Company was ordered to move to the right sector so we walked with the animals for three days and we camped every night for rest.
